I absolutely love my home and I had to write to tell you what I am up to now. Back then, you gave me a book..."The Dalai Lama's Little Book of Inner Peace". You also loaned some feng shui books to me and I confess I still have them! I will buy you new ones, but it was no mistake of the universe that I hung on to them. They have affected my life beyond words!!! The week before Thanksgiving, I was laid off from my job. Even though my heart was pounding in my chest, I had a sense of joy about it. I didn't know why, but I felt I was being guided to a better place and I would figure it out soon. I never shed a tear, but I must admit, the fear of losing my house makes me weak in the knees on occasion. 99% of the time I am on a blissful journey of meditation and soul-seeking, but every once in a while the 1% that is scared I will not have money by June to pay my house payment takes over and makes my heart race a bit. In this economy, jobs are scarce. I have applied and interviewed and am hopeful something will come soon, but in the meantime, I am so grateful for this time of reflection. I am also grateful for those books I never returned, becasue I have decided to take my passion for interior design and feng shui and start my own business! It came to me after hours and hours of meditation, and it was if the lights turned on all at once! Once I decided what I wanted to do, events and resources unfolded before my eyes, and I have been on a beautiful journey! I have started doing feng shui appointments in people's homes, and I am also including interior decor and de-cluttering in my business. I have helped people with major de-cluttering projects that have changed lives and turned houses into comfortable homes that serve people well. In February, I will be enrolling in Carole Hyder's Wind and Water School of Feng Shui to work toward my certification. Many sellers think that the price of their home is determined solely by what they are willing to accept and what the buyer is willing to pay. However, there is one more variable that can affect the sale of a home assuming that a bank loan is involved -- the lender's appraisal.
To protect the interest of their investors, the buyer's mortgage lender hires a licensed appraiser to give an independent, objective opinion of what the property is worth. The appraiser compares the house with similar homes in the neighborhood that have recently sold. Square footage, amenities and the condition of the home are taken into account. Renovations and home improvements made by the seller usually add value to the home, while defects such as needed repairs or code violations decrease the property's value. The seller's real estate agent can provide the appraiser with up-to-date information about neighboring homes that have sold to support the seller's asking price.
